“Akhi, I need to ask a favor of you,” Kelt asked her through a video link.

“No problem, Kelt. What’s up?” she asked.

“I’m running some experiments on the library. I need you to link up with the library mentally at 11, my time tonight,” he explained.

“What do you want me to find, Kelt?

“Akhi, I just want you to continuously make the connection to the same point in time, break it, and repeat the process until I ask you to stop. Try to repeat the process in one-minute intervals. Don’t give up on me sweetie; it might take some time for me to figure things out.”

“What are you looking for?”

“I’m looking for a time stamp.”

“Ah, yeah, I can do that,” Akhi answered pensively considering what Kelt was up to.

“Great, sweetie. I love you,” he said. Before she could respond in kind, Kelt had cut the connection.

“I wonder what he’s up to?” she mused.

Kelt had entered the operating system for several nights in a row now, seemingly making little progress. He had been studying the old language, as he did with most projects, picking out the pieces he needed here and there. He had finally reached the point where he had to start at the beginning of the lessons, which Aldo had prepared over the years, and was now presenting to a class on Pacificus. Kelt had been able to fly through the lessons at an unprecedented rate. Each lesson had required a full hour to present. Kelt now had a fairly solid knowledge of the workings of much of the physics intertwined with the language. What he considered the language part was easily wrapped around the physics.

He was able to go through five to eight lessons in an hour, every day. Within a week or so, he would be at the same level with the language as Akhi and the others. He was already far advanced beyond what they had learned, or what Aldo could even pass on to them in the ancient knowledge of physics. Kelt had attained the impossible. He realized, even the Culinari could not possibly understand the underlying real physical constructs of their computing platform, hidden in the ancient artifact of the history library. Their mathematics was too basic. He had side tracked their natural flow and created his own. It was through his constructs, he better understood the artifact.

He reached in with his mind, and traversed the heaving threads that he had come to refer to as files, until he got to the operating system level. Here, within the library, a maze of complex threads and formulae were thrown into the processing mix in parallel fashion. Sequences of what would normally be known as simple hexadecimal machine codes were thousands and millions of molecules long. He was searching for a small segment in that mass of flow, Akhi’s name. He had discovered her name through their mental connections. He had “walked through her open door” into her mind, into a similar place where he had found his name, in his own mind.
